Abstract: This paper presents a novel framework for trust infrastructure in Indonesian coffee supply chains. Drawing on four years of market intelligence from US specialty coffee exhibitions (SCE/WOC 2022–2026) and diplomatic trade partnerships (KBRI Washington, 2024–2026), we propose a three-layer verification system that moves beyond traditional traceability to incorporate digital fairness — the transparent distribution of value across supply chain actors — and cultural capital — the recognition of indigenous processing knowledge as a tradable asset.
The QBridge model combines administrative verification (legal entity, certifications), physical processing validation (Q Processing standards, equipment inspection, SOP compliance), and independent quality assessment (Q Grader cupping with CVA scoring). A welfare scoring component evaluates labor practices, farmer relationships, and sustainability metrics, creating a composite trust signal for global buyers.
We argue that trust in agricultural commodities cannot be reduced to geographic tracking alone. Instead, it requires the integration of institutional verification, technical competence, and ethical governance — what we term a "trust infrastructure" layer. This framework has been validated through field research with Indonesian processors and buyer interviews across North American and European markets.
